We chatted with Elis, a multidisciplinary designer and master glass engraver, about the daily life with her furry friend, Kiko the Akita. Dive in!
VERDIN: COULD YOU SHARE HOW KIKO CAME INTO YOUR LIFE?
Elis " Kiko isn't actually my dog; I'm more like his guardian aunt. I look after him a few days a week so his family can manage their household and children. Kiko is a wonderful dog, but he can't accompany them with a small child and a stroller, and since I have a free hand, we spend time together. My friends thought we'd be a perfect match for babysitting, and Kiko gets his mini-vacations every week. We enjoy long walks, and both of us are happy. I've never been a dog person—I lean towards cats—but Kiko is such a fantastic dog that I'm really glad for the company."
WHAT ARE SOME ACTIVITIES YOU AND KIKO ENJOY DOING TOGETHER?
Elis: " For both of us, it's a trip to nature where we can explore freely. I find the greatest inspiration in nature—landscapes, rocks, and textures. Like me, Kiko enjoys rocks and sand; he digs around and does crazy things in them."
WHAT DO YOU FIND UNIQUE ABOUT KIKO?
Elis: " What sets him apart is his complete calmness; he never barks, only howls when alone, and is phlegmatic, making him a wonderful companion for trips. This demeanor is unusual for his breed, as Akitas are typically the opposite. He greatly enjoys the company of people and children."

Elis: " Oh, the joy when he sees me, smiles, and does a celebratory dance. That definitely melts me away."
